Yes. I'm horrible. Now get over it. I've got great excuses!
For one, I moved! Out of our dingy small apartment and into a house!
I've got a pomegranite tree out front, limes out back and some other
unknown but seemingly untoxic massive fruit tree out back. For the
first time in my life I'm able to pick something up out of my back yard
and eat it! I guess my parents had raspberries and crab apples, but
you know as well as I that only deer have taste buds attuned to the
specific tart of a crab apple and raspberries grow on wimpy little
bushes. Can't hold a candle to my trees.
Jeremy is loving his back yard even though right now there's really
nothing more to play with out there than a plastic shovel and a dirt
hole. We're still getting settled here. Santa's bringing him a swing
set for Christmas though, so I'm sure he'll be spending even more time
outside. Yey! It'll be worth the scrapes, blisters and inevitable
concussion to have him out of my hair for a bit every afternoon. That's assuming that Adam gets the thing assembled, of course.
I can't believe all the things he's getting for Christmas this year - a
swing set, a bike, a remote control car, $100 worth of Thomas the Train
stuff, and those are just the things I know about. I've still got money
I'm supposed to spend on him and gift certificates arriving shortly,
too. When I was 3 years old I the coolest toy I remember from
Christmas was some soap crayons for the bathtub. $3. I can't believe
how spoiled he is and can't believe that my parents said the same thing
about me.
Santa brought us our gifts early this year since we were so good and
I'm so good at Craigslist (thank you fridge, portable dishwasher, gas dryer and ping pong guy!) In our garage we've got a ping pong table (yeah...I mentioned that)
and dart board and out back we've got a badminton set. I can't wait to
start having people over again now that we have all this room. We're
having a housewarming on the 8th and it'll be the first time we've had
more than just a few people over since last summer. It was just too
hard with Jeremy's door directly off our living room. There
was nowhere to escape to there.
So, on top of the move last week I had finals, too. And, with minimal
effort since I worked so hard throughout the semester, I know I got
another 4.0. Straight A's since I got here, baby! I'm unstoppable!
Speaking of unstoppable, James won yet another award for his
game...well, for the ride they made out of his game. I'm so happy for him and
hoping that this means that the San Diego Zoo will quit stalling and
install them already so James can take me to the opening :) He's
coming down for my housewarming and I'm so excited! Now we just need
to get Erwin back for good!
Frank graduated from the Art Institute on Thursday but I told him I
couldn't make it because I had a final. But then I ended up taking my
final early and it never even crossed my (by then, sick-as-a-dog)
overwhelmed brain that I could go. I feel absolutely horrible about
it, so I promised to make him
the dinner of his choice tomorrow night. We're going grocery shopping tomorrow
afternoon. I miss a shopping buddy! I miss all my friends so bad right
now...Frank lives all of 5 miles from here and I haven't seen him in
weeks. But now I'm out of school for a month and then only taking 5
credits, so life should start settling down soon. I needs me my
FrankeeeO time!
So in one week I moved into a new house, took my finals, got really
really sick, wrote a million Christmas cards, went shopping for and
wrapped a million presents, decorated our first real Christmas
tree...and I still have so much work to do around the house. Right
now, my bed is hidden under a mountain of clothes. One more quick
story and I've got to take care of that lest I just make a nest of my
tshirts and call it a night.
SO...A year ago, when I was trying to get all this blog stuff set up, I
wanted to do it right and get my own domain name. I eventually settled
on myluckcouldchange.com, but I registered one before that that I never
used, deeming it too cheesy and kinda inappropriate for me. I
completely forgot about it until I got a expiration notice last week,
the same day a guy emailed me to ask me how much I wanted for it. My
internet got cut during the move and I never got back to him, so he
made me a $300 offer, about $250 more than I thought it was worth. I
played hardball with him and got an extra hundred. So, it's kinda like
a Christmas miracle...someone else finds something you didn't even know
you had and offers you a substantial sum of money for it. After this
escrow stuff he'll be the proud owner of thecaptainsblog.com and I'll
get some new clothes.
I know I've been shitty about writing lately, but to make up for it this should keep your crafty little hands busy.
